8th June 2017. Cardiff. Hosted at the Mercure House Hotel in Cardiff, the first Wales Online Digital Awards took place on Thursday and Inspiretec CEO Simon Powell won in the Digital Ambassador of the Year award category.
The awards recognise businesses and entrepreneurs making outstanding contributions to the digital sector in Wales.
Working in the digital travel industry for over 25 years, Simon has recently set up the Inspiretec Group that brings Comtec, Eysys, Sequence, Clarius Finance and Incentriq Canada under one roof.
The group, with a range of technical and digital capability, has its sights on expansion, with the team expected to grow from 110 employees to 170 in 12 months, forecasting revenues of £9m.
More recently, Simon has invested within the InspireWales fund to provide finance and help to Welsh start-ups.
“It’s great to be a part of this fresh new celebration of digital in Wales,” said Simon.
I’m also thankful to the judges for the award, but also to my team, where without them this award wouldn’t be possible. Wales is playing its part on the digital stage and we’re very much looking forward to what the future holds for Inspiretec and the wider industry.
Competing against Simon in this category was Alice Gray of Mindful Of Science — a blog that raises awareness of the barriers facing women and girls in science, technology, engineering and maths — and co-founder of Wales Interactive, David Banner.
Editor of Wales Online Paul Rowland said: “These awards will showcase the excellence that exists in Wales’ fast expanding digital sector, from established innovative firms and entrepreneurs driving impressive market share, to exciting start-ups with huge potential for growth.More info: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/business/winners-revealed-walesonline-digital-awards-13154118
