Women in Tech at Inspiretec.

Following International Women's day Inspiretec celebrates the talented women working in the business.

12th March. Cardiff. Cardiff has a tech sector that’s expanding faster than the UK tech average. The city has around 21,508 jobs in digital tech, which is up by almost a third over the last three years. (Findings from Tech Nation). It is estimated the UK economy would benefit from an extra £2.6 billion each year if we increase the number of women working in tech to fill the prevalent IT skills shortage. According to research undertaken by PWC, only 15% of people working in STEM roles in the UK are female and 5% of leadership positions in the technology sector are held by women.

Inspiretec is very proud to say that 33% of the team are female which exceeds the normal average in the Tech sector in the UK. As the team continues to grow, Inspiretec encourages as many females as possible to consider a career in technology. Inspiretec’s Head of Test & QA, Liz joined Inspiretec with a non-technical background and is a great example of someone who has developed a career within technology.

Inspiretec has incredibly talented staff members, whose hard work is recognised and who have progressed within the company to senior levels. Fidan started at Inspiretec as a STEM graduate joining the company as a Junior Software Engineer three years ago and has since worked her way up to be a Senior Software Engineer, which is a fantastic achievement. Each year Inspiretec offer internships and employ an intake of graduates in a variety of roles including Junior Software Engineers to contribute towards developing the ongoing success of the business.

Joy the Technical Delivery Director at Inspiretec is a testament to women working within the Technology Industry. Joy started her career as a software developer, before progressing into a variety of senior technical positions which has resulted in her working within the travel technology sector for an extensive period of time. Alongside Joy, Inspiretec also has women working in other senior roles throughout the company, in both technical and non-technical positions. Recently Gina Biggs joined Inspiretec as the Finance Director for the company, which has brought further equality to the board, which 40% are female.
